Hi,
Yesterday, at the diabetes clinic (at my GPs surgery), I learnt a lot more. He had, obviously, to tell the attending doctor that he was diabetic.

hi everyone!
i wonder if anyone here uses insulin pumps and can give some insider-insights as to what he finds as a good pump.
these things cost a lot, and the insurance in most cases cover only the basic pump from most manufacturers (minimed/medtronics, animas, etc).
any feedback would be great!

It seems that many people confuse between T1 and T2 diabetes, so I'll do my best to explain the difference.
People who suffer from Type 1 diabetes (also knows as T1 diabetes), do not produce enough insulin, or don't produce insulin at all, and as a result have problems in using the carbs they eat. Such people must inject insulin in order to keep themselves a live.

Is there a relation between the average blood sugar level read on the meter and the result of an A1c?
In the past 2 months I dropped my average from 9.8 to 6.1mmol on my glucometer. I am not due for a A1c for another month so I am curious. Last time it was 7 so I expect that the next one will be more around 5.5 to 6??

While reading the newsgroups, I noticed that many more people seem to use syringes and wonder why since the use of the pen is so easy and seems cheap to me.

I have a long family history of diabetes--great-grandmother, grandmother, mother. I've been watching my carbs to some extent for at least 10 years. I'm very frustrated; meat and veggies are great, but I don't tend to have a big

An Understanding

People with Type 1 diabetes are not able to produce insulin. Type 1 usually occurs before the age of 30, but could happen at any age. Type 1 can be caused by genetics. The origins of Type 1 are not understood completely, yet there are several theories. But all of the possible causes still have the same end result: The pancreas produces very little or no insulin anymore.

His father is diabetic so does the reading for him. My son is very active, does gym and is well built. However, he seems to often be so tired.
The tiredness (and bad moods)
was what made his dad test his blood wit

A reminder to those that have diabetes for a long time and a warning for those that have had it for a short time: be careful. It's beter to be warned before an accident happens. Very hot weather (and you'll probably be more active with all t
