Happy holidays~Surviving Easter and ohh the chocolate!
How did everyone fair with the food and chocolate and family this weekend?
I cant resist chocolate...its like a drup....mhhmmmm i love it! I guess in a way being a T1 is a bit easier because if I know how many carbs it has then I can just give insulin to compensate. Although it still doesnt help the fact that diabetes gain weight like it aint no thang!
My family normally gets together for Easter Breakfast on Sunday morning. We have fruit and keish and what have you. Its great!
Anyways Happy holidays to all!!

Surviving Easter
It was even harder than Christmas!! Usually we are having what we call Cabane à sucre meal which is traditionnal in the place where they make maple syrup: eggs, bacon, molasse's beans, ham, potatos, everything with pancakes and maple syrup. I was pretty reasonnable and ate only the protein parts but had some cheese cake and was amazed to see that my bg, even though it must have been high, dropped back to good levels pretty fast. I had very little chocolate.
Chocolate is part of my normal diet as I buy 80% + cacao and sometimes chocolate made with alcool sugars by the chocolatier here in town. My bg doesn'T even show a thing if I do the good girl and eat only one or two pieces. Note that with that high cacao, one piece is enough.

Hi juliedevos,
You're so lucky to have your family nearby!! It's a prevailing that I once took for granted and only later figured out how much I miss that
Anyway, for me Easter is also the hardest time of all, trying to avoid all the 'carbs out there'...
Anyway, I hope you enjoy your holiday, and that you like my virtual cake :-)
