Hyper // hypo ???????

Can someone explain the effect/symptoms of hyper /hypo thingies .

Ive only been diagnosed 4 - 5 years. But I often get mild flu like symptoms joint/muscle stifness mild headache and wait for this one if I move my eys either side my head goes a wuzzey/dizzy. Usually lasts 24hrs ish.

Any thoughts bgs 7 - 13 Last Al1c 7.1

What is your blood sugar level when this happens?

The eye/head thing sounds like something to do with your inner ears...have you been to the doctor lately and asked about these symptoms?

As for hyper/hypo I have noticed that having had diabetes over 10 years sometimes the symptoms feel the same.

However classic symptoms are
Hyperglycemia: thirst, sweating, tiredness,blurred vision, frequent urination, sometimes stomach ache (if you've been high for awhile) and sometimes lack of appetite, or hunger

Hypoglycemia: shaking, trembling, confusion, emotional either giggly or weepy, extreme hunger, tiredness, sometimes slurring

Anyways there are some differences amoungst people,,,for instance I sometimes get a numb and tingly tongue when I go low.

Some of the things you describe could be from high blood sugar however they might not be. The best thing to do would be to check with your family doctor or endo.

Agreed with what Julie said. When you don't feel right, always take your blood sugar and take notes to be able to discuss with your Dr.

As for symptoms, some people don't even feel anything when low. In my case, it's a bit of everything, hot flashes, shaking, a big feeling of emergency, lips tingling and numbness, agressivity... keep out of my way, I need to eat and fast as very fast I get confused and forget what I need to do.

Symptoms of hyper... not much for me beside lack of concentration and sleepiness...I really fall asleep even if sitting at the computer, a bad and heavy sleep.

I must record my Bg level more after all I suppose the best person placed to answer my question is myself. It's my body and I should understand it better even the extra 28 pounds I really don't need.

That's a fact Phil. You are the only one who knows how you feel. I wish the testing strips were available for free everywhere... perhaps the Drs. would not hesitate then to ask for more testing.

As for the extra 28 pounds, good luck. We all know how hard that is to lose and keep it gone. Revise your eating habits...perhaps a single little change can help cutting down on many calories and lead to a good weight loss after 1 year.
