    ACCU-CHEK METER

Thought I'd have a go at ddownloading data from my meter (ACTIVE) to my PC so I rang the UK helpline for ACCU- CHEK to price up the reader cables and software and to my amazement they were offered foc. They also updated my meter to the new AVIVA again foc. Could'nt believe my luck all they asked for was about ten market research questions.

The software looks good, not worked out all the graphs yet. The download was a breeze -- downloaded 200 individual tests - 10 secs.

The new meter is much better-- needles in cartridges so now handling and a very small amount of blood needed

just shows if you don't ask you don't receive.

Thats great! I use the accu-chek active and always wanted to do the downloading.
I've just rang them too, should get the cables etc within 28 days.
Thanks a lot for the information.

    re:ACCU-CHEK METER

At first I had a One Touch Ultra meter and the software was free as long as you purchased the cable which was $60. Then, the nurse gave me an Accu-check but I used the Accu-check Advantage for a very short time, less than 2 weeks. It asked for too much blood. Here, the meters are for free as long as you pay for a box of strips or you have another meter to trade for. So , I swapped for the Freestyle which ask for such a small sample, it's almost fun to do it. I called the company Therasense and got the software as well as the cable for free. It doesn't do everything I wish for but it's neat to bring the results at my Dr. appointments.

I compared my 2 meters, One Touch and Freestyle and when under 10mmol, the results are within 0.5 mmol difference... When over 10mmol though, the difference is as big as 3 mmol and I don't know which one is the most accurate. Each time I tested at the lab, both were at 0.1mmol of the lab results.

[quote:1e6a0ea7c3]LOL they are making their money on the strips, the meters are loss leaders. You can bet AVIVA strips are more expensive than the ACTIV ones.
Why on earth hasn't the NHS got its own brand of meters and strips ?[/quote:1e6a0ea7c3]

Your dead right peter it would make sense Bet my GP won't prescribe AVIVA should find out in a couple of weeks
