    Diabetes Testing

I'll be having Retinal photography screening for the first time this Friday.
Looking forward to it as i do like to know how i'm doing and like to get test results in the hope that i can try and avoid long term complications.
Has anyone else had this test? and how does everyone else feel about testing/screening?
I know that some people dont like all the prodding and scrutinizing of themselves.

I had the test done in November. Had it done before, 4 years ago. THe first time they had to dilate(?) my eyes with drops and it was disturbing as too much light was a bit painful. The last time, in November, they didn't need to do it, they could see well enough. This is not a painful test, quite fast and easy in fact. Interesting to see the pictures. I have no damages.

Could you see normally just after it?
I'm asking since some people can't drive just after such test, and they recommend not driving for a couple of hours.

No, you can't, they tell you not to and to have a friend to drive you. With sunglasses it's feasible but I would not recommend it.

When i've had my pupils dilated before any brightness was really uncomfortable and couldnt see very much at all. Driving would be really difficult, if not impossible. It usually takes about 4-5 hours to wear off enough to see ok.
I'll be walking back from the hospital so not a problem.
I hope i'll get to look at the photo they take while i'm there (though i won't be able to see much!) maybe i can get a copy.

I know that I can see test results and photos on the web.
Maybe you can open an account and see it from home.

I saw the pictures at my next doctor visit, he had them in the file.

I must say I drove back while wearing sunglasses once. It was like crying all along the way back but I had to be back fast and had no driver that day.

    Actually it's on CA, USA.
But I'm sure your insurance company have this feature as well.
    Try call them and ask.

I dont have a health insurance company. I'm sure this won't be available on the National health service.
