Alternative for insulin

Is there any alternative for insulin shots and permanent cure for type 1 diabetes.

Hello and welcome to the forums sneh.

First things first: there is no permenant cure for type 1 diabetes that is proved to really work and have no side effects.

As for the alternatives:

If you dislike taking shots all the time then you can try and get an insulin pump, which will basicaly keep the insulin flowing. However not without your own control. As we are told and tell others: the pump itself is not enough, you need to have a head as well.

If for whatever reason you cannot get insulin as easily (not compensated etc) you can try altering your diet, however that's a hard way and not always too healthy. Since I'm not too keen on it myself and prefer insulin (I use a pump) you should look in the forums, there is a topic about raw food diets.

You will need to constantly monitor your BG and maintain a good diet and excercise regulary.

Are you Type 1 or Type 2?

One more thing: are you a recently diagnosed diabetic?
