RED INFUSION AREA

I know this had probably been brought up before but here goes.....I have been oumping now for about 8 months, when I changed my infusion site the last 3 times, I have had a red, raised area around my infusion site. I use Tegrederm HP. Could it be a reaction to the tape or glue? And if so, why did it just start? Thank You, Mark Willoughby

A red raised area you say... Hm... Is there a rash? Does it itch? If so then probably it's an alergy. If I understand it correctly this is one of them 45deg infusions (the ones that insert not verticaly, but slightly horizontly like the accu-check tenderlink). If I am correct and the alergy is out, then there are 2 options:

1. You insert it at about the same spot as before and you hit some thicker layer that forms when the previous "hole" is healing. Or any other kind of insertion error. As we've been told, an insertion point needs about 6 weeks to heal before you can properly insert it there again. Try changing the spot or moving it further from the previous if possible. By the way, what are your infusion insertion sites?

2. You have used the infusion sites too much withouth letting them heal and perhaps you used them before using a pump. If so then the areas can harden and if you press those points you will feel as if you are pressing against something hard. Those lumps need to be treated.

For the treatment of such lumps and for more info on the possibility of alergies ask your doctor. He might know more. As for me... I've said as much as I can think of right now withouth the few things that I asked in this post.
