diabetes
hello my name is Jeannie.
I am new to all this, so I am asking for some advice from other people who have diabetes.
i take a tablet called Diamicron.30mg.
now my question here is, while I am not at work my blood count is about 8 or 10 after eating,
how ever because my work is very demading,it goes down rarer quickly to at times 2. I have gone to my own doctor and told him about this yet he told me that it should not be dropping like it does and to keep taking the tablet that i was given, I made my own judgement regarding this and dont take it when i work and it usally goes to about 6.3 when i get home.
I was 2102 when I first was told I had type 2 and over weight , I have lost 38kgs to date,
can anyone give me the normal range ,I have read in my infor book that the normal range is from about 3.5-8 mmol/8 its all very confusing any help would be grateful

Hi Jeannie,
Welcome to the forum! I was told that the target is between 4.6 and 6.4 and I am to check my blood levels 2 hours after eating to see if I've returned to that range. I do find that I can go low when I go to the gym, but having some juice or a light snack before really helps. To avoid spikes they told me to pair a carb with a protein (about 15g carbs) and it's been working really well. I do this before bed, too, WITHOUT taking insulin (I'm Type 1) and my fasting numbers have been great.
Good luck with everything, and congrats to you on the weight loss!
Take care!

Hello Jeannie and welcome to the forums,
karen already gave you a very good advice and I agree on the target range, though after having had diabetes for over ten years (Type I as well) I found it safer to keep betwen 5.4 and 6.6. A small range but when it's bellow 5 i found it that it can drop rather fast...
Since i am not sure on how to handle pills for diabetes i cannot give any advice here, but rather suggest like karen a small carb boost before work and maybe during lunch brake (if there is one)
