Just saying hi - so HI !!!!

    I'm Tigs and i'm 27B)
I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes (diet controled) about 5 months ago - cant beleive its been that long!
After the initial freek out (which seems so unrational now) i completely changed my diet and life style and i've lost just over a stone in weight

But i'm struggling now to motivate myself to exercise and getting confused again about what i should eat. I feel i've slipped back to some old eating habbits and realise i'm eating way too many carbs and have no idea how to count them.

To top it off i'm a little bit of a doctor phobe and now i'm starting to stuggle know i should go back, but not sure what they'll say or do and feel a bit like a dunce, rather alone and embarressed:blush:

Sorry to go on - feel better putting out there though!
    Thanks for listening...

Tigs welcome to the forum, I hope you will like it here

Basically you have a problem sticking to low-carb diet? It's a matter of self-discipline, but I find that once in a while to 'sin' can be a great way of keeping up with a stricter everyday diet

Hi Tigs, welcome! I'm with Blair, I allow myself to indulge once in awhile to help control my cravings (and for a nice treat!). I work out 5x a week so I still have carbs, but I've been on a meal plan that actually helps with better digestion and -- I have to tell you -- it's been wonderful! My doses have dropped (I'm T1, btw) and I'm feeling great! If you need help with anything, or just have any questions, you're in the right place! You can do this!!

Hey Blair, I find it easy to follow... it's basically just about combining foods properly for better digestion. I still have complex carbs (ie. if I have pasta it's whole wheat etc), which I need because I am active. I feel GREAT on it... I combine following the chart for three days, and on the fourth I can combine any way I want. Also, I find myself eating every few hours -- small portions -- so I'm never hungry and I never binge.

That sounds great, Karen - really super! Did you make this meal plan by yourself or did you doctor advise it, or how did you get to get to the right proportions?
