    Healing diabetes

This news is rather old but i decided to say it anyway just in case some people didn't hear it.

Diabetes can be cured. Or at least it is thinked so. Several diabetics were taken and certain cells were taken from the medulla (or however it's called) and then their immunity system was completely destroyed. During the period the patient is very vurnerable to any illnes. A few weeks later using those taken cells their immunity system was restored. Some patients organisms rejected the procedure and they are still dependant of insulin, but some are already living withouth insulin under carefull watch.
However this was just an experiment and with those that have had diabetes for only a short time, but i guess we can start hoping

    Healing diabetes

That's great news, Vytautas. Eventhough you say it's rather old, I've never heard of it before.

Have to keep a watchful eye on progress with this

It is the common myth that if you suffer from diabetes, you have to eat special food that is often very expensive. In reality the diet works for the best if the food consists of proteins, carbohydrates and fats, but in right combination.

There is a new hope for using stem cells in curing diabetes, check this link

The stem cell cure is a rather old topic. In many cases there were rejections and the cure failed. However it is a promising idea... Just guess we need to learn how to modify the cells appropriately

My biggest problem with the mere action of using stem cells is that it's still a touchy subject. I'm all FOR stem cell research and think it will thoroughly save lives one day. In the meantime, so many people think it's sinful or morally wrong to use stem cells. I think that notion is completely wrong.

Will it cure diabetes in the next few years? Anything is possible. In the meantime, I believe that if you eat right and keep your weight stabilized, you can rise above SO MUCH. For example, you can rise above having to take insulin shots or medications. I lost over 20 lbs and now my diabetes is just managed by proper diet. Hopefully, one day, I won't even have to be THAT careful.
My kids are all the sugar I need. . . and no, I don't need Medical Alert Systems.

That's good news Ashley Though not all people can get off so easy For example, I weight only 70kb (~154lbs) and am 1,8m in height making my BMI 21 just normal. I am on an insulin pump and my daily dosage is about 60 units of humalog (both base and bolus)
