Pig cells could provide diabetes cure

National Post Article - 2007/02/07 06:32 Did anyone else read the article in the National Post a few months back? Its about a break through they made in diabetes quite accidently. it envoles the pain receptors on the outside of the pancreas. These receptors are indirectly involved in the signalling process in which your pancreas releases insulin. Apparently they injected type one diabetic rats with a spice and it jump started these pain receptors. Which in turn allowed the signal to get through to the islet cells and produce insulin. Crazy I tell you! Of course there is still a lot of research to be don but they say in just over a year they will begin human trials. Many of the rats went for months with only one injection!

Anyways just thought I would post that since I thought it was extrememly interesting!!

Indeed this is exothermally interesting!
Did you know that 90% of the drugs today were found by an accident?

Do they plan any clinical trials with a human soon?
