Scientists - Skin Cells Can Produce Insulin - 2008/09/27 13:57 Ah, yes... This has been known to me for some time. It's an interesting looking prospect, but there's more to it than just making cells produce insulin. Our own were capable of that, the problem is, that they can no longer do that and the same would happen to those cloned cells should we try them in a diabetics organism.

The problem is, that most diabetes (Type 1) is because our own imunity system has for some reason decided that those cells are a threat to the organism. The same is very very very likely to happen with the other similar function cells. It's not so simple, see the cloning fad has started quite a while ago and if it were so easy there would be fewer diabetics now...
